Most articles about food truck pricing are guesswork. This one isn't. Below is what actually happened on the EZ Food Trucks marketplace from January 1 through June 30, 2026 — 195 booking requests and 66 completed events, straight from our booking system.
Key findings: the median food truck booking minimum was $1,000 · the typical event was booked 64 days in advance · June alone hosted 58% of first-half events · Wednesday was the single busiest event day · the median event served 100 guests.
How much does it cost to book a food truck?
Of the 66 completed events in H1 2026, 92% included a minimum guarantee — the sales floor the host commits to so the truck's trip is worth it. The median minimum guarantee was $1,000, and the average was $1,054. Against a median event size of 100 guests, that works out to roughly $9–10 per guest as a pricing floor. Hosts who came in under that usually either trimmed the guest list or shared costs with a second host.
How far in advance do people book food trucks?
The median lead time was 64 days — hosts locked in their truck about two months before the event. The middle half of all bookings landed between 19 and 85 days out. But the tail matters: 23% of events were booked less than two weeks before the date. Last-minute demand is real, and trucks that keep some calendar flexibility captured it.
When is food truck season?
Completed events ramped hard into summer: February and March saw 1 event each, April 10, May 16, and June 38 — 58% of the entire first half. Requests told the other half of the story: January through March generated 90 of the 195 requests (46%), mostly for spring and summer dates. Winter is booking season; summer is serving season.
Wednesday is the busiest food truck day
The stereotype says food trucks live on weekends. Our data says otherwise: 35% of completed events fell on a Wednesday, and Monday through Wednesday together accounted for 70% of all events. Friday through Sunday? Just 20%. Corporate lunches, community events, and organizational gatherings dominate the calendar — and they happen midweek.
What kinds of events book food trucks?
- Special events (community gatherings, celebrations, organizational events): 64% of completed bookings, averaging 103 guests with an average $1,088 minimum.
- Private events (parties, family gatherings): 30%, averaging around 150 guests with an average minimum just under $1,000.
- The median booking request came in at 75 guests, and 16% of requests asked for two or more trucks for a single event.
Which cuisines get booked most?
Counting every cuisine listed on the menus of booked trucks: American (28 events), burgers (18), ice cream (16), BBQ (14), and tacos (14) led the first half, with Tex-Mex close behind at 11. Dessert trucks — ice cream especially — show up as a popular add-on for multi-truck events.
What this means for food truck owners
- Price with confidence. A $1,000 minimum for a ~100-guest event is the market norm, not a stretch.
- Chase the midweek. Wednesday is the busiest booking day on the platform. If you only work weekends, you're competing for 20% of the events.
- Fill your June early. Nearly 6 in 10 first-half events happened in June, and much of it was booked back in Q1. Your winter inquiries are your summer revenue.
- Keep last-minute room. Almost a quarter of events booked inside two weeks. A truck with open dates and fast responses wins those outright.
- Partner up. With 16% of requests wanting multiple trucks, a reliable partner truck (especially dessert) makes you easier to book for bigger events.

Figures are computed from first-party EZ Food Trucks marketplace records: 195 booking requests created and 66 events completed between January 1 and June 30, 2026, primarily across the Midwest. Test records are excluded. Cuisine counts credit each cuisine listed on a booked truck's menu, so multi-cuisine trucks appear in more than one category. Dollar figures refer to minimum guarantees, not total event spend.
